Got my 2,7D S Type in February, Whilst driving to Spain the amber, restricted performance light came on, just after setting off mid France, early morning. It could be a faulty connection within the ABS pump module or a dirty ABS wheel speed sensor. Give the ABS sensors a clean and if that doesnt work try the ABS pump module. Eliminate those first. 2005 S-Type R 4.2l. Poor power under acceleration. Barely make it to 40 mph. Restricted Performance warning and check Engine light comes on. Vehicle bucks and hesitates and loud pinging sound from engine when the warnings come on. The car would run ok but then drop into Restricted Performance once it began to cruise on a light throttle. The fault code showed the offside (ie:driver's side) EGR valve faulty. It cost me £288 to get it replaced at an Indy, more expensive because this side is an absolute swine to get to. Hi All, Yesterday I had the dreaded "Restricted Performance" message. Today it was gone until about 20 miles away from home. I know it needs to be plugged in and diagnosed, but my local indy dealer is awash with work after lockdown. Since i've had the S Type R on the road, i've have an intermittant restricted performance flash up on the dash. The stored codes indicated an intake air leak If I drive my 2003 S Type R a short distance, say 100-1000 yards, or even just up the drive way (25 yards) the next time I restart the car I get a restricted performance notice on the dash. Hi everyone. I just went for a drive (very short, as it turns out). My restricted performance light came on along with the amber warning light. I checked the battery voltage - 12.6v with engine off. I put it in park and revved it slowly up to 3000. At 3000, the revs would drop back momentarily to Anonymous. 295 Answers. SOURCE: 1999 Jaguar. Gearbox fault Restricted Performance. I would make sure the fluid maintenance is done. The most likely cause is the transmission or transfer case is gone internally. I would take the vehicle to the transmission shop. Good Luck.
