IEMs can compete with the Porta Pro in terms of having better tuning to their sound. Even $20 IEMs like the Moondrop Chu would sound better than the Porta Pro because its known to be dark sounding while the Chu have a more mid forward, sparkly treble. Moondrop Aria is basically a cheaper Starfield, and the Tin Hifi T3+ has a similar sound The KSC-75 Driver (PortaPro Driver with a titanium membrane) KSC-75. UR40. Pro-35AT. Pro-35T. KTX-Pro. So today, I received the new Koss x Retrospekt P/21 on-ear headphone and thought I’d post some first impressions. The packaging is super basic which embodies the overall feel of the headphone. Some nice stickers are included which is nice, but they should have spent the extra cost on some better tuning. What I like about the porta pro: Lightness. I used to wear my porta Pro for about 16 hours a day with no pain in my ears, and they are discreet enough not to make you look like you should be in front of a gamin pc right now (no hate to gamers, just not the look I want when I'm out and about) Sound quality. Midbass is boosted to give the headphones a nice kick, paired with a fairly thick lower midrange. Vocals are somewhat distant and recessed. Resolution is what I’d consider average, if not a bit fuzzy I mean worth it to mean sounds like cost to performance, and their performance far outweights their price. Nowadays you can get some very solid IEMs for even cheaper but Koss is still objectively good value. It won't compete with most higher end stuff, but it's a nice little thing to have. 3.
